Carsten Jancker has returned to coach Austria Klagenfurt, replacing Slobodan Grubor at the football club, ORF Kärnten reported.

The 52-year-old German, a former Champions League winner and international player, previously coached Austria Klagenfurt for four matches during its 2025 Bundesliga relegation campaign but could not prevent the club from dropping to the second division.

In his second spell, Jancker takes over after the club’s insolvency and forced relegation to the Regionalliga. Last season, he coached ASKÖ Oedt, leading the team to third place in the Regionalliga Mitte. Austria Klagenfurt have lost their last two matches.

Jancker is due to lead training on Wednesday afternoon and make his competitive debut on Friday in the Carinthian derby against SVG Bleiburg.

Managing director Zeljko Karajica thanked Grubor for his work, saying he had taken charge during an important period and served the club with great commitment. The club wished him well in his personal and sporting life.
