Technical fault likely caused fire that destroyed two Obsteig homes

A technical fault is considered the most likely cause of a major fire that destroyed two terraced houses in Obsteig, in the Imst district, on Friday, ORF reported.

Police said on Monday that investigators do not yet know which device may have malfunctioned. Further inquiries are needed to establish the cause. The fire is believed to have started near a carport.

Firefighters returned on Saturday after the fire flared up again. The municipality has set up a donations account for the affected families. Nobody was injured.
