ÖBB restores limited service on the Ostbahn line

Sunday 4th October 2026 on 14:15 in Austria

Limited train services have resumed on the Ostbahn between Gramatneusiedl and Bruck an der Leitha after an overhead-line fault caused a cable fire, ORF reported.

ÖBB said Railjet and Regiojet long-distance trains had been running through the section again since 11.30 a.m. on Sunday. Eurocity services and most local trains were still replaced by buses because rail infrastructure remained restricted.

ÖBB said an animal in the overhead line caused the fault. Repair work is expected to continue until the end of service on Monday.
