Search teams rescue 87-year-old trapped under tree trunk

An 87-year-old man was found and rescued during a search in the municipality of Ludesch late on Saturday, ORF Vorarlberg reported. He was conscious but trapped beneath a tree trunk and unable to free himself.

The man was taken to Feldkirch Regional Hospital. He had set out on Saturday morning to do woodwork and had not returned by evening, prompting his family to alert police.

The search and rescue operation involved 27 members of the Ludesch volunteer fire brigade and 18 mountain rescue workers from Raggal and Nenzing. An ambulance and five police officers also attended, with police deploying a drone.
