A 75-year-old driver died after two cars collided head-on on the B33 in Spielberg, a cadastral municipality of Melk, on Friday, ORF reported, citing police.
The man, from the Linz-Land district, was driving towards Melk when his car crossed into the oncoming lane. Witnesses said he had probably been trying to overtake a lorry. He died at the scene.
The other car was carrying a 72-year-old man from Germany and his 74-year-old wife. Both were injured and taken by ambulance to St. Pölten University Hospital.
