Fire destroys two terraced houses in Obsteig

A fire destroyed two terraced houses containing four homes in Obsteig, a municipality in Imst district, overnight on Thursday, ORF reported. Residents escaped without injury, while five firefighters were slightly injured, according to initial findings.

The fire broke out at about 11:30 p.m. for reasons that remain unclear. Several vehicles parked outside the buildings were also damaged. The houses suffered either total destruction or major damage; the full cost was not yet known.

Residents received support and medical monitoring at the scene from the Red Cross crisis intervention team. Eight fire brigades responded, from Obsteig, Mieming, Mötz, Silz, Rietz, Telfs, Nassereith and Imst. Police and emergency medical teams were also at the scene.

Investigations into the cause of the fire are continuing.
