The Munich Tatort team is filming its third case on the Oktoberfest grounds, under the working title Teufelsrad, BR reports. The shoot is taking place among real festivalgoers and operating rides, making quiet conditions hard to find.
Carlo Ljubek, who plays chief inspector Nikola Buvak, said the noise was particularly exhausting. He and co-star Ferdinand Hofer, who plays chief inspector Kalli Hammermann, find the soundscape challenging even during a short walk along the fairground’s showmen’s avenue.
In the story, a body is found between the rides on the second-to-last day of Oktoberfest. The detectives must determine whether the death was a murder, while potential witnesses may soon scatter and the crowded fairground complicates the search for evidence.
The first useful clues lead to the Teufelsrad, one of the Oktoberfest’s oldest rides. Jutta Speidel plays its forceful owner, a character said by producer Felix von Poser to be closely based on real-life owner Elisabeth “Lizzy” Polaczy. Von Poser said he wanted to tell a story about the close-knit social world of the showmen behind the fair.
Other cast members include Martin Feifel, Pola Jane O’Mara, Hannes Ringlstetter, Simon Pearce, Anna Bardavelidze and Eva Karl Faltermeier. The episode is scheduled to air in 2027. Munich detectives previously investigated cases at the Oktoberfest in 2009 and 2015.
