Fatal crash closes A9 towards Munich near Pfaffenhofen

The A9 motorway towards Munich is closed near Pfaffenhofen after a fatal crash, BR reported. Police say a man was trapped between two vehicles and died at the scene.

According to initial police information, a driver fell asleep and hit a parked lorry before crashing into the guardrail. He then got out of his car to retrieve something from the boot.

A van drove head-on into the unsecured crash scene, trapping the man between the vehicles. The cars involved have been impounded by the Ingolstadt public prosecutor’s office, and an expert has been called in.

The motorway is expected to remain closed for several hours while the scene is cleared. Traffic is being diverted at the Holledau interchange, and police have asked drivers to avoid the area.
