MPreis replaces CFO after just over a year

Tyrolean grocery retailer MPreis is replacing its chief financial officer after just over a year, ORF reported Wednesday. The company confirmed that Gerhard Gocek is stepping down for personal and private reasons.

Andreas Hämmerle will take over as CFO. His appointment will be interim and for a limited term, as was Gocek’s, and MPreis said its operations would not change.

Hämmerle has been finance chief at MTH Retail Group since 2008. The company describes itself as operating in the non-food sector.

MPreis, based in Völs in the Innsbruck-Land district, appointed members of the founding family, Jakob and Mathias Mölk, to management in 2025. Gocek became CFO at the same time.

The retailer has faced growing pressure from economic conditions and is seeking strategic partners. MPreis said it is in talks with several potential partners, with the aim of securing food supplies and preparing the business for the future. The company has around 280 stores and more than 5,000 employees in Austria and South Tyrol. The timing of any agreement remains unclear.
