University of Vienna fair helps first-year students navigate campus life

The University of Vienna is holding a two-day fair to help new students prepare for university life, ORF reports. The unileben fair runs on Wednesday and Thursday as part of the university’s Welcome Weeks.

Students can find information on study and learning support, university services, leisure activities and cultural life in Vienna. Exhibitors and community groups are also on hand to answer questions about settling into the city and getting involved.

A help desk for first-year students will answer questions about starting their studies in the main university building through October 2. The university will also provide information on services including its language centre, library and sports institute, as well as student health and the student union.

Groups introducing themselves at the fair include the Protestant and Catholic university communities, University Rowing Vienna and the Vienna Cognitive Science Hub, a network of researchers studying thought and mental processes across disciplines. Cultural organisations and venues, including the Burgtheater, the State Opera, the Volksoper and the Musikverein, are also represented, alongside service providers such as banks, mobile phone companies and bicycle subscription services.

The fair is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on September 30 and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on October 1. The first-year help desk is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. through October 2.
