Fire destroys car on A2 in Burgenland

A car was completely destroyed by fire on the A2 motorway in Burgenland on Tuesday, with all occupants escaping unharmed, ORF reported.

The fire broke out between the Lafnitztal/Oberwart exit and the Loipersdorf service station, in the direction of Vienna. The car was already ablaze when emergency crews arrived. The cause of the fire has not been determined.

Market Allhau volunteer fire brigade crews used breathing apparatus to extinguish the flames. Police and ASFINAG were also at the scene. The operation lasted about two hours.
