Motorcycle collision kills 78-year-old pedestrian in Vienna

A 78-year-old woman died after a motorcycle struck her in Vienna’s Favoriten district on Monday night, ORF reported.

The 23-year-old motorcyclist was travelling on Raxstraße towards Grenzackerstraße at about 8.45 p.m. and was changing lanes when the woman tried to cross the road from left to right. The collision threw her to the ground.

An emergency medical team that happened to be nearby gave first aid, but the woman died at the scene. A breath test found no alcohol in the motorcyclist’s system. He was reported on suspicion of negligent homicide in road traffic.
