Swiss passport ranks ninth worldwide with 119 visa-free destinations

Switzerland’s passport ranks ninth worldwide, with citizens able to travel to 119 destinations without a visa, according to SRF, citing a new report by the independent platform Passport Reports.

Switzerland ranks 13th among 47 European countries, just behind several European Union states including Germany and Spain.

Entry to a further 54 countries is possible through a visa on arrival or an electronic travel authorisation. Travel is almost entirely unrestricted in Europe, the Americas and the Caribbean. The access rate is 93 percent in Oceania and 72.2 percent in Africa. Travellers need to obtain a visa in advance for 25 destinations.

Passport Reports examined the travel documents of 199 countries. The United Arab Emirates lead the global ranking, followed closely by Singapore. Afghanistan ranks last, with visa-free access to only three countries.
