VOR turns single journey tickets into day passes for one day

The Verkehrsverbund Ost-Region, or VOR, public transport association, is turning single journey tickets into day passes on Tuesday, September 22, ORF reported. Selected bus routes in St. Valentin in the Amstetten district are also free as part of Car Free Day.

Under the campaign slogan Single journey equals day pass, passengers who buy a full-price ticket for a journey from one point to another can travel as often as they like on the selected route. The offer applies throughout the VOR area in Lower Austria, Burgenland and Vienna.

In Lower Austria and Burgenland, tickets are available from 2.30 euros per single journey. In Vienna’s core zone, passengers can use the entire public transport network for 3.20 euros. Tickets are valid until 1 a.m. the following day.

The offer does not apply to on-call shared taxis, the CAT, reduced-price tickets or services that do not operate under the VOR fare system, such as tourist railways.

In St. Valentin, five NÖVOG regional bus routes are free of charge. They are routes 613 between Wallsee, Strengberg and St. Valentin; 616 between St. Valentin, St. Pantaleon, Ennsdorf and Enns; 617 between Langenhart, St. Valentin and Klein Erla; 618 between Erla, St. Valentin and Herzograd; and 619 between St. Valentin, Ernsthofen, Neu Rubring, Aichet and Pyburg.

Car Free Day marks the end of European Mobility Week, which began on September 16. The campaign aims to showcase public transport options, VOR said. Its managing directors, Karin Zipperer and Alexander Schierhuber, said the day offered an opportunity to try public transport for journeys that would otherwise perhaps be made by car.
