Oktoberfest worker critically injured in free-fall tower accident

A worker was critically injured in an accident at a free-fall tower at Munich’s Oktoberfest, BR24 reported. He had to be resuscitated and was taken to hospital, according to a police spokesperson.

The accident happened at the amusement ride. The worker, who was employed by the ride or a security service, may have been in an area where he was not supposed to be. He was then struck or possibly trapped, police said.

The area around the ride was closed off during the large-scale emergency response. The cause of the accident remained unclear.
