Hetfleisch wins final race but finishes second overall

Tina Hetfleisch of Oberdorf in the Oberwart district won the final race of the grass skiing World Cup in Italy but finished second in the overall standings, ORF reported.

Hetfleisch won the closing slalom on Sunday for her second victory of the season. The 20-year-old recorded nine podium finishes during the World Cup season.

She missed out on the overall title by 55 points. “Of course it hurts to have missed it by only 55 points in the end,” Hetfleisch said. “But at the same time, a few years ago I would not have dreamed of racing for the big crystal globe right up to the final race.”

Her next possible highlight is the junior world championship in Japan in two weeks. Hetfleisch could contend for a medal in each of the four events.
