Fußach approves 27.5 million euro town centre redevelopment

The municipality of Fußach has approved plans to redevelop its town centre, with a new community hall, a redesigned municipal office and a shared public space scheduled for completion by 2031, ORF reported. The project has a budget of 27.5 million euros, with the state covering about 20 percent.

The plans include building the community hall on the site of the existing facility, redesigning the municipal office on the Krone site and creating the public space that will connect them. The village square will be framed by the church, community hall, municipal office and Burghügel hill.

Footach’s municipal council approved the budget framework on Wednesday. The existing multipurpose hall, built in 1971, and the municipal office, which is around 60 years old, are to be replaced. The new centre is intended to provide modern facilities for the administration, school and cultural activities.

The community hall will be used for school, sports and cultural events. The primary school will be able to use it for sports during the morning, while sports and cultural associations will have access in the afternoon and evening. All new buildings are planned on already sealed surfaces.

The new municipal office on the Krone site will combine renovated buildings with a new structure. The Old Embroidery building will be modernised, including to create rooms for events such as civil weddings.

An architectural competition will define the detailed plans for the community hall and municipal office. Construction is expected to begin in 2028, with completion planned for 2031.
