Bad Zell, fire, firefighting

A farmer helped prevent a fire at a farm in Bad Zell, Upper Austria, from spreading to a cattle barn, ORF reported. The fire broke out in a straw mill at about 5 p.m. on Saturday.

The farmer immediately used a hose to contain the flames. About 55 cattle were in the barn, but they were never in immediate danger.

Four fire departments were called to the farm and brought the fire under control within a short time. Firefighters then removed straw from the affected part of the building to check for hidden embers.

The operation ended after almost two hours, when the fire departments returned to their stations.
