Truck driver seriously injured in Achenkirch fire

A 65-year-old truck driver was seriously injured after the tractor unit of a semi-trailer caught fire in Achenkirch in the Schwaz district overnight on Sunday, ORF reported.

The fire broke out at about 2.15 a.m. while the parked vehicle was occupied. Its cause was initially unclear. When the Achenkirch and Achental fire brigades arrived, the tractor unit was already fully ablaze.

The driver, a Bulgarian national, managed to escape from the cab but suffered severe burns. After receiving initial medical treatment, he was flown by emergency helicopter to the accident clinic in Murnau.
