Braunau, knife attack, police dog

A 15-year-old allegedly threatened two teenagers with a knife and injured one of them during a dispute in Braunau, ORF reported. Police arrested him shortly afterwards, and a police dog found the discarded weapon.

The dispute among the youths reportedly escalated on Friday evening. At about 7 p.m., the 15-year-old Romanian was outside a restaurant with four acquaintances when he suddenly pulled out a knife and threatened a 12-year-old Bosnian.

He then attacked a 16-year-old Slovak with the weapon and injured him. An acquaintance of the Romanian intervened and prevented the situation from becoming more serious. Police were alerted.

The attacker and his companions fled immediately. He threw the knife into dense undergrowth, but police pursued the group and arrested the 15-year-old after a short search.

The reason for the attacks was not known. A police dog later found the knife in the bushes.
