Police stop 10 alcohol and drug-impaired drivers in Burgenland

Police stopped 10 alcohol- or drug-impaired drivers during a statewide traffic operation in Burgenland on Friday, ORF reported. Some 500 drivers were checked by 67 officers.
Two women and eight men were found to be driving while intoxicated or under the influence of drugs. The highest blood alcohol reading was recorded from a 56-year-old driver in the Mattersburg district, who was found to have 2.42 parts per thousand.
Officers carried out 526 breathalyser tests and preliminary alcohol tests. The operation also resulted in 314 other reports, 295 administrative penalty notices and 408 speeding violations detected by radar.
