East Tyrol has opened a new link in its everyday cycling network, making an existing bridge between Nußdorf-Debant and Dölsach safer for cyclists, ORF reported. The project cost €850,000.
The cycling path across the bridge was inaugurated on Wednesday and also received a blessing from the church.
Assling and Oberlienz have already been connected to the network. The cycling network around Lienz is scheduled to be fully expanded for everyday travel by next year.
The Lienzer Talboden regional planning association is focusing on closing gaps rather than building large new projects, its chairman, Markus Stotter, said. Cyclists travelling from one place to another currently encounter one gap after another, he said.
A total of €4.8 million is to be spent by next year so people can travel safely by bicycle throughout the valley floor.
