A 54-year-old woman suffered life-threatening injuries after being attacked by a Rottweiler in Wies, in the Deutschlandsberg district, ORF reported.
The woman was walking with her approximately 50-kilogram dog in the Gaißeregg area shortly before noon on Wednesday. She sat under a tree to rest when the male dog suddenly became aggressive and bit her several times on her right upper and lower arm, police said.
She managed to restrain the dog, put a muzzle on it and tie it to a tree. A local resident noticed what had happened, provided first aid and alerted emergency services.
The injured woman was taken by helicopter to Graz Regional Hospital. The dog was collected by Arche Noah. Further inquiries are continuing.
