Fire destroys roof and balcony of Leogang home, injuring four

Four people were slightly injured after a fire destroyed the roof structure and a balcony of a single-family home in Leogang, Salzburg, overnight into Wednesday, ORF reported.

Emergency services were alerted shortly before 3:30 a.m. to the fire in a house in the Hütten district. The roof and balcony were already fully ablaze when firefighters arrived.

The four residents escaped the burning house on their own. The Red Cross took them to hospital in Zell am See with suspected smoke inhalation and hypothermia.

Firefighters declared the blaze extinguished shortly before 6 a.m. Investigators are examining the cause.

A total of 33 firefighters, Red Cross personnel and police officers were deployed. The B164 Hochkönig Road was closed for almost four hours during firefighting and clean-up operations.
