Carinthia’s hospital operator Kabeg is renaming the state hospitals as clinics, ORF reported Tuesday. LKH Villach will become Klinikum Villach, LKH Wolfsberg will become Lavanttal Clinic, and Laas Hospital will become Laas Clinic.
Klinikum Klagenfurt will also drop “am Wörthersee” from its name, Kabeg said.
Kabeg chief executive Arnold Gabriel said the changes were intended to reflect the development of the hospital network. He said the terms “clinic” and “medical centre” represented modern, specialised and patient-focused healthcare and matched the terminology used by many leading healthcare institutions in German-speaking countries.
The new names are also intended to strengthen the hospitals’ position in the labour market, Kabeg said.
The changes will be introduced gradually and at little additional cost. Signs, forms, printed materials, digital content and working documents will be updated as part of regular replacement and printing cycles. The existing corporate design and Kabeg logo will remain unchanged, as will the services and structures at the individual locations.
