A train operated by Appenzeller Bahnen derailed in Niederteufen, Switzerland, on Tuesday morning after colliding with a delivery van, ORF reported. No one was injured, but the crash caused several hundred thousand Swiss francs in damage.
A 47-year-old man had parked the van in front of a house, with part of its body extending onto the tracks. Shortly before 5.30am, the train struck the vehicle and derailed. The van was pushed into another parked car.
The train, van and car were all badly damaged. A crane was used to recover the derailed train, while the two vehicles were removed.
Replacement buses operated until about 10am. The main road was also closed during the recovery work.
