Democracy Day brings events to 70 Vienna locations

About 70 locations across Vienna are hosting events and information sessions on how residents can participate in democracy on International Day of Democracy, ORF Wien reported.

This year’s programme focuses on protecting democratic institutions and encouraging participation in everyday life. Activities are taking place in playgrounds, parks, courtyards and public offices across the city.

Organisations and institutions are presenting ways to practise democracy in Vienna, including opportunities for participation and involvement in local neighbourhoods.

The programme also includes a city walk on the history of women’s suffrage and a tour of central Vienna focusing on accessibility. The event began on Monday evening with a democracy festival at Yppenplatz square.
