A 68-year-old German motorcyclist was injured after crashing into a bus on the Katschberg Road, ORF reported.
The accident happened on Monday afternoon in the municipality of Lieserbrücke. The motorcyclist was travelling on the B99 federal road from Seeboden towards Spittal an der Drau behind a bus.
When the bus slowed down because of a bottleneck on the road, the motorcyclist apparently failed to notice. He tried to swerve into the opposite lane but struck the bus’s rear left side with the motorcycle’s right luggage rack.
The motorcycle then went into a skid and hit a guardrail. The rider fell and remained injured on the road.
After receiving initial treatment from an emergency doctor, he was taken to Spittal an der Drau Hospital. The operation involved police officers from Spittal an der Drau and Seeboden, a district traffic patrol, the Red Cross and the Lieserhofen volunteer fire brigade.
