Around 4,000 visit Burgenland state government building open day

Around 4,000 people visited the Burgenland state government building in Eisenstadt on Sunday, viewing areas normally closed to the public and meeting volunteer organisations from the state, ORF reported.

The state parliament chamber was open, along with the offices of Governor Hans Peter Doskozil, Deputy Governor Anja Haider-Wallner, State Parliament President Astrid Eisenkopf and state councillors Leonhard Schneemann, Daniela Winkler and Heinrich Dorner.

Information and service stands gave visitors an opportunity to learn about different areas of the state administration.

Doskozil said the open day offered an excellent opportunity to obtain information about politics at state level. Eisenkopf said freedom, participation and equality could not be taken for granted, adding that it was important for the public to see and understand where and how democracy was defended, practised and upheld.

Another highlight was a presentation by emergency and security organisations in the car park outside the building. The Burgenland military band provided the musical accompaniment with an outdoor concert, followed by performances from other music groups during the day.
