Police reported four cases of inadequate child restraints during focused traffic checks in the Feldkirch and Bludenz districts on Friday, ORF reported. Six drivers were removed from traffic for suspected alcohol or drug use.
Police carried out about 80 alcohol tests, one of which was positive. A police doctor determined that five drivers were under the influence of drugs. Officers seized four driving licences at the scene.
One driver tried unsuccessfully to evade the check by turning off the road. He was under the influence of drugs and was driving an unregistered car with invalid number plates. He and his passenger were carrying drugs. Five people were reported for drug-related offences.
Police also removed the number plates from three cars because of their poor technical condition. In addition to the four reports over inadequate child restraints, officers filed 54 reports for other traffic offences.
