Police stop drug driver carrying four children

Police in Regau, a municipality in the Vöcklabruck district, stopped a 32-year-old Bosnian man who was driving without a licence and tested positive for cocaine, ORF reported. His four children were also travelling unrestrained in the car.

A patrol noticed the vehicle at about 10.30am on Friday in Schalchham, a part of Regau, after officers saw that a girl in the front passenger seat appeared not to be wearing a seat belt. They found six people in the car: the driver, his 26-year-old wife and their four children, aged two, four, five and six.

The four children were sitting in the back seat without seat belts, and the vehicle was carrying one person more than permitted.

The driver could not produce a valid licence because it had already been revoked by authorities. His 57-year-old father arrived shortly afterwards in another car. When officers asked him to produce his licence, he said that his had also been revoked.

The driver agreed to a voluntary urine test after officers questioned his unusual behaviour. The test was positive for cocaine. A doctor at Vöcklabruck Hospital declared him unfit to drive, and police reported him.
