Burgenland opens government building to public

Saturday 12th September 2026 on 06:15 in Austria

Burgenland, democracy, open day

Burgenland’s government building will open to the public on Sunday for an open day, ORF reported. Visitors will be able to see behind the scenes of state politics and administration and speak with decision-makers.

The event, held ahead of Democracy Day on September 15, will focus on democracy, accessibility and cooperation. The programme begins at 10 a.m. inside and outside the building.

Visitors can tour government offices and the state parliament chamber. Information stands run by the Burgenland state government and affiliated companies will provide advice on housing subsidies, care, mobility and consumer protection.

Emergency service organisations will demonstrate their work outside the building. Children’s activities will include movement games, a craft table and a photo booth.

At the official ceremony from 10.30 a.m., Burgenland Governor Hans Peter Doskozil and state parliament President Astrid Eisenkopf, both of the Social Democratic Party, are scheduled to speak.

A free shuttle service will run between the government building and car parks at Burgenland Energie and the Eisenstadt shopping centre.
