Rondo Ganahl presents plans for Frastanz power plant

Rondo Ganahl AG presented plans for a residual-material power plant at the proposed location in Frastanz on Friday, with residents raising concerns about quality of life and property values, ORF reported.

Residents also criticised the planned location in a residential area and repeatedly pointed to frequent inversion weather conditions, which they said could cause pollutants to settle in the air, soil and water. Supporters of the project also attended the meeting.

Rondo Ganahl described the discussion as a constructive exchange and said misunderstandings, including about the number of lorry journeys, had been resolved.

The company expects any positive environmental impact assessment decision to be challenged, delaying the project by at least a year. Construction would therefore realistically begin no earlier than late 2027 or early 2028, with completion expected at the earliest in 2030.
