Roundabout planned to improve safety at Mötz junction

ORF reports that a new roundabout will replace a dangerous junction near Mötz in 2027. The 40-metre-wide roundabout will be built south of the Inn bridge, where Mötzer Straße meets the motorway access ramp and Mötzer Dorfstraße.

The project is expected to cost 2.3 million euros. The state of Tyrol will cover 75 percent of the cost, with motorway operator ASFINAG paying the remaining 25 percent.

Tyrol Deputy Governor Josef Geisler said the roundabout would improve road safety at an important but problematic junction for the region.

According to the state of Tyrol, local conditions will allow the project to be implemented largely within the existing road layout. This will enable the current road space to be used for the new traffic arrangement and keep the impact on the surrounding area as low as possible.

The project is being coordinated with the municipalities of Mötz and Silz.
