Hans Tschida wins Sweet Winemaker of the Year for 12th time

Illmitz winemaker Hans Tschida has been named Sweet Winemaker of the Year for the 12th time in London, ORF reported. No other winemaker has received the International Wine Challenge award as often as the Burgenland producer.

Tschida first won the title as the world’s best sweet-wine producer in 2010. He followed with victories in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026.

“Every single title is something very special for me and confirmation of the passion we put into our wines every day,” Tschida said.

The International Wine Challenge is one of the world’s leading wine competitions. A jury of Masters of Wine, wine producers, wine merchants and specialist journalists assesses wines submitted from around the world. Its Sweet Winemaker of the Year award is one of the most important international honours for sweet-wine producers.
