Police stop driver at 124 km/h in built-up area

Police stopped a 32-year-old driver travelling at 124 km/h through the built-up area of Wundschuh in the Graz-Umgebung district, ORF reported. The speed limit was 50 km/h.

A police patrol was carrying out speed checks with a laser device at around 3 p.m. on Tuesday when the sports car passed at more than 120 km/h.

The driver, who is from Graz, told police he had been taking the car for a test drive after repair and conversion work. Officers provisionally confiscated his driving licence. After consulting the district authority, police also provisionally seized the sports car and had it towed.

The driver will be reported.

Last week, a 19-year-old was caught driving at 190 km/h instead of the permitted 80 km/h on the B67 near Feldkirchen in the Graz-Umgebung district. The driver, who held a probationary licence, said he had wanted to dry his car after washing it.
