Hartberg to host international volleyball tournament

TSV Hartberg, Austria’s volleyball champions, will host the international Coppa Pallavolo Senza Confini preparation tournament for the first time, ORF reports. The event will bring RANA Verona Volley, VfB Friedrichshafen and ACH Volley Ljubljana to Hartberg on October 1 and 2, 2026.
Three of the four participating teams, Hartberg, Verona and Ljubljana, will play in the Champions League this season. Four top-level matches are scheduled over the two-day tournament.
RANA Verona Volley will arrive as winners of the Coppa Italia and third-place finishers in Italy’s SuperLega. Its squad includes Austrian players Lukas Glatz, who is from Hartberg, and Paul Buchegger. Beach volleyball Olympic champion Anders Mol has also recently joined the team.
The tournament is part of Volleyball Senza Confini, an international project launched in 2023 by TSV Hartberg Volleyball, RANA Verona Volley and Bulgaria’s VolleyAcademy Stoytchev-Kaziyski. The cooperation is intended to support the development of players and coaches.
“We are creating an international development space. Now this idea will be visible for the first time on a major international stage,” project manager Gottfried Rath-Zobernig said.
The tournament opens on Thursday, October 1, at 5.30 p.m. with the semifinal between VfB Friedrichshafen and ACH Volley Ljubljana. Hartberg will face RANA Verona Volley at 8 p.m.
The third-place match and final will be played on Friday, October 2, at 5.30 p.m. and 8 p.m. respectively. Hartberg’s Champions League campaign begins in early November.
