Cobra unit joins overnight police operation in Salzburg

Police carried out a large-scale operation in Salzburg overnight into Tuesday, with the Cobra special police unit joining a search for a person in the Lehen district, ORF reported.

Criminal police, the Rapid Intervention Group and several patrols were reportedly searching the area from around 10 p.m. The Cobra unit arrived after 11 p.m. and, according to eyewitnesses, forcibly opened an apartment.

The operation continued past midnight. No one was injured, according to initial information, and no emergency medical service was deployed.

The reason for the operation was not known. Police had not yet responded to a request for comment.
