Resale sites charge up to €1,200 for LASK Champions League tickets

Tickets for LASK’s home games in the UEFA Champions League have sold out, with resale platforms now offering some for up to €1,200, ORF reported. The Upper Austria Chamber of Labour warned fans against buying them.

The final tickets released for general sale on Monday were snapped up within a short time after heavy demand in recent days. Thousands of fans had already waited in the online shop during the protected presale for subscribers.

Numerous offers appeared on resale platforms shortly after the remaining tickets sold out. Gernot Fieber of the Chamber of Labour’s consumer protection department urged fans not to buy them.

“A very clear statement: keep away from such offers,” Fieber said. Buyers could not be sure they would actually be admitted to the stadium because the tickets were assigned to specific individuals, he said. There was also a risk that some tickets were counterfeit.

The Chamber of Labour also advised ticket holders to exercise caution when reselling. Anyone who sells tickets online for a profit could face consequences from the organiser, Fieber said.

LASK could exclude people who commercially resell tickets from buying new ones, he said. Their subscriptions could also be cancelled. Privately passing tickets on without making a profit should not be a problem, according to the Chamber of Labour.

Demand surged last week over LASK’s first participation in the league phase of the UEFA Champions League. At one point, more than 7,600 people were waiting simultaneously to access the online shop, and it was already unclear whether any tickets would reach general sale.
