Helicopter rescues climber from glacier crevasse in Tyrol

A climber was seriously injured after falling into a glacier crevasse near the Olperer in Tyrol on Sunday, ORF reported. A second climber was also injured in the accident.
The two brothers were travelling as a roped team towards the Olperer when they fell for an unknown reason, according to the Mayrhofen mountain rescue service. One remained injured on the surface, while the other fell into a marginal crevasse on the glacier.
The second man was winched from the crevasse by helicopter. Both climbers were flown to hospitals. The Tyrol Alpine Police and the mountain rescue teams from Tux and St Jodok also took part in the operation.
Several hours earlier, Mayrhofen mountain rescue had responded to an incident on the Berliner Höhenweg hiking trail. A hiker travelling with a group fell about 150 metres and was injured.
