Burgenland transport operator adds night and school bus services

Verkehrsbetriebe Burgenland, the region’s public transport operator, will add new scheduled services from Monday, ORF reported. The changes include two late-night connections for passengers travelling from Vienna to central Burgenland.

On route B26, buses will run on weekdays from Monday to Friday at 10.33pm and 12.33am from Wiener Neustadt to the park-and-ride station in Steinberg-Rabnitz in the Oberpullendorf district.

Heinrich Dorner, the responsible state councillor from the Social Democratic Party, said the services would make it possible to travel safely and comfortably to central Burgenland after evening events in Vienna.

From 7 September, a new service on route 1862 will connect pupils from Heiligenbrunn, Großmürbisch and Kleinmürbisch in the Güssing district with schools in Pinkafeld, Oberschützen and Oberwart in the Oberwart district.

New stops will also open in Mattersburg and Weichselbaum in the Jennersdorf district. The Pinkafeld Fachhochschule stop will move to the entrance of Hochschule Burgenland and be renamed accordingly. Stops in Tschanigraben in the Güssing district will also change.

VBB said several services would receive further timetable or route adjustments. A full list of the changes is available on the VBB website.
