Olbendorf mayor Wolfgang Sodl to hand over office in December

Wolfgang Sodl, the long-serving mayor of Olbendorf in the Güssing district, will not stand in next year’s mayoral election and will hand over the office to municipal executive board member Peter Gartner in December, ORF reported.

The SPÖ Olbendorf unanimously made the personnel decision on Saturday at a party meeting in Kukmirn. The party said Gartner and the SPÖ team would continue the municipality’s successful development.

Sodl, a former member of the state parliament, thanked his political colleagues. Gartner said he was looking forward to his new responsibility and to shaping Olbendorf’s future together with everyone involved.
