Neighbours and smoke alarm save unconscious woman in St Veit

Residents alerted emergency services after hearing a smoke alarm from a neighbouring flat in a multi-apartment building in St Veit an der Glan, ORF reported. Firefighters rescued an unconscious woman from the smoke-filled apartment.

The neighbours also saw smoke and contacted the emergency services. Firefighters, the Red Cross and police were dispatched.

A breathing-apparatus team entered the flat through a window and found the woman lying motionless on the floor. They brought her outside before she was taken to hospital by ambulance.

According to the fire brigade, burnt food on the stove was probably responsible for the smoke. The operation ended after the apartment was ventilated.
