Cat camera helps police catch suspected burglars in Vienna

Police arrested a 16-year-old after a tenant’s cat camera helped identify two suspected burglars in Margareten, Vienna, ORF reported.

The 31-year-old tenant was checking the camera footage at about 1:30 p.m. on Thursday when he saw an unknown person inside his flat. He called police and gave officers a detailed description.

Police encountered two teenagers carrying backpacks in the building’s stairwell. Officers identified one of them from the surveillance footage and found gold, cash and jewellery in the backpacks, along with burglary tools.

The 16-year-old suspect was arrested. The second suspect was reported while remaining at liberty and was handed over to MA 11 because he could not provide details of his legal guardians.
