Police detain two after firebombs thrown at Rohde and Schwarz site

Police detained two suspects after incendiary devices were thrown from a car at a construction site outside technology company Rohde & Schwarz’s headquarters in Munich, BR reported. One device ignited and another was defused.

A witness alerted police around midnight, reporting that incendiary devices had been thrown from a car in Munich’s Berg am Laim district. One landed near construction containers outside the company’s headquarters and was extinguished by a police patrol that arrived shortly afterwards. The fire caused only minor damage, and no one was injured.

Emergency responders found a second device at the scene. Special forces from the Bavarian State Criminal Police Office rendered it harmless, after the area was extensively cordoned off.

During an immediate search, officers detained two suspects at a nearby petrol station on the Innsbrucker Ring. Police identified them as a 28 year old woman and a 38 year old man, both Bulgarian citizens.

Investigators are examining how the pair may be connected to the incident. Police have not released information about a possible motive or the background to the attack.
