Firefighters free cow trapped between two trees

Firefighters rescued a cow that had become trapped between two trees in Neukirchen am Großvenediger in the Pinzgau region on Wednesday afternoon, ORF reported.

Twelve firefighters used hydraulic rescue equipment to free the animal, which was wedged between the trunks and unable to move forwards or backwards. They pushed the trees apart with a spreader and lifting cylinder to create a few centimetres of space, then secured the cow with straps and lifted it out using a tractor’s front loader.

It is not known how the cow became trapped. A veterinarian treated and examined the animal after the rescue, according to Salzburg24. The cow did not initially stand up again, but its owner was confident it would recover from the ordeal.
