Truck driver injured after semi-trailer hits rock in Styria

A 40-year-old truck driver was slightly injured when his semi-trailer left the road and hit a rock in Weißkirchen in Steiermark in the Murtal district early Wednesday, ORF reported.

The Moldovan national was travelling from Carinthia towards Vienna on the B78 at about 3:30 a.m. when the vehicle left the road to the left for an unknown reason.

Emergency responders treated him at the scene before taking him to the Murtal Regional Hospital in Judenburg.

The tractor unit was completely destroyed, while the semi-trailer sustained minor damage. Engine oil and transmission oil leaked from the vehicle, and a company will be commissioned to excavate and dispose of the contaminated soil.

The B78 remained closed at the crash site until shortly before 6 a.m.
