Train kills homeless man at Vienna station

ORF reported that a 57-year-old homeless man was killed by a U-Bahn train at Schwedenplatz station in Vienna on Tuesday evening.

The Bulgarian man was apparently staggering along the platform for the U1 line towards Leopoldau at about 10 p.m. When he briefly leaned forward, the train entered the station and struck him. He died at the scene.

The Verkehrsunfallkommando, a traffic accident investigation unit, has taken over the further investigation.
