Police find two dead in Geretsried and identify suspect

BR24 reported that a woman and her adult son were found dead in an apartment building in Geretsried, a town in Upper Bavaria, on Tuesday. Police said there were concrete indications that the deaths were caused by another person. A suspect has also been identified.

The suspect is believed to come from the victims’ family circle, according to information obtained by the German Press Agency from security sources. Police said he no longer poses a danger.

Suspicious report led police to apartment

At around 11 a.m., the integrated emergency control centre received a report of a suspicious observation at the apartment building. Officers found the two people unresponsive inside a flat. An emergency doctor confirmed both had died.

The Weilheim criminal investigation department is investigating under the direction of Munich II prosecutors. The circumstances and exact sequence of events remain unclear.

Police are asking anyone who noticed anything suspicious between Monday evening and Tuesday midday near the apartment building on Königsberger Weg or in the surrounding area to contact the Weilheim criminal investigation department on 0881 640 0 or any other police station.
