Sturm Frauen take 2-1 lead into Gintra return

SK Sturm Frauen will take a 2-1 lead to Lithuania for Wednesday’s second leg against FC Gintra in the first qualifying round of the UEFA Women’s Europa Cup, ORF reported. The match will be broadcast live on ORF Sport + at 11 a.m.

Lena Breznik scored the decisive goal in second-half stoppage time, converting a corner to complete her double and secure the home win in Graz.

Sturm sporting director Michael Erlitz said the team expected to advance if it matched its performance from the first leg. “If we deliver the same performance as in Graz, the expectation is clearly that we want to progress,” he said.

The team also leads the Austrian Bundesliga after four wins and one draw. Sturm forward Lilla Sipos said the team wanted to control the match and score as quickly as possible, while benefiting from its aggregate lead.

Coach Tode Djaković’s squad travelled to Lithuania on Monday.
